Physical Education Association

Welcome! The Physical Education Association (PEA), one of six associations under the Florida Alliance for Health, Physical Education, Recreation, Dance and Sport, is the largest association. The current PEA leadership roster can be found under the Leadership tab.

This association has within its structure, two primary Councils. They are the Elementary Physical Education Council (EPEC) and the Secondary Physical Education Council (SPEC). In addition, the state of Florida is divided into seven (7) regions based on counties as illustrated in the accompanying state map. Locate your county and you will discover which of the seven regions is yours. It is our hope that as news, events and programs are planned by the various councils and regions, information and photos can be placed in this website.

The purpose of EPEC and SPEC are to organize the elementary and secondary physical education teachers across the State of Florida in order to enhance the physical education programs at the elementary, middle and high school levels.

The Elementary and Secondary Physical Education Councils are your links and your voices to the Physical Education Association. These councils meet three times during the year to discuss issues and topics that are a major concern of our physical education members. These councils help determine who will be the primary speakers, presenters, and the Pre-Conference workshops being scheduled at the conference. The committee members gather news and information from around their regions and report it to the FAHPERDS Journal and web-site to inform all physical education teachers throughout the state. These committees also select the teacher-of-the-year for elementary, middle, high and adapted levels. If you are interested in participating on one of the councils or as a region representative, please contact any member of the Physical Education Association leadership team.

The Physical Education Association is active in a variety of important initiatives, to include advocacy, information sharing, conference programming, and workshops, Teacher of the Year Awards, special programs and participation as members of the FAHPERDS Alliance Board of Directors.
